Efficacy Trials

Vick Agricare Ltd. is a leading research company that conducts trials for plant-protection and plant-nutrition products in Kenya to test their effectiveness. It is officially accredited by the Pest Control and Produce Board to carry out tests and trials on agricultural products. The trials are conducted on a wide range of products, namely:

  • Pesticides – Insecticides, Fungicides, Herbicides and Nematicides
  • Bio-fertilizers
  • Inorganic Fertilizers – Foliar and Non-foliar
  • Plant Growth Promoters
  • Soil Conditioners
  • Bio-stimulants

Our scientists test the efficacy of the client’s products under controlled/indoor/outdoor conditions on a wide range of plant pests, pathogens and weed species.

The procedures that are used to conduct the company’s trials are adopted from the PCPB guidelines, as highlighted in the Protocol for Evaluating the Efficacy for Pest Control Products in Kenya. The trials are initiated once the PCPB approves a protocol on the product to be tested, and these are conducted in various farms and greenhouses that the company works with. Some of these farms and greenhouses are in:

  • Muguga (Kiambu County)
  • Mwea (Kirinyaga County)
  • Kagio (Kirinyaga County)
  • Kinangop (Nyandarua County)
  • Kiandu (Nyeri County)

The company has detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that guide the conduct of the trials, and that the team is familiar with.
