Nematode Analysis
Our nematode analysis and diagnostic services involve isolation, identification and quantification of the plant parasitic nematodes species from field samples, estimating their potential to cause yield loss and ultimately prescribing control measures and strategies. Common destructive nematodes that are analyzed in our laboratory include Root Knot nematodes (RKN), Potato Cyst nematodes (PCN), Burrowing nematodes (Radopholus spp) and Lesion nematodes (Pratylenchus spp).
Morphological analysis of species and numbers of plant parasitic nematodes is important for assessing damage to the current crop, predicting damage to future crops, and selecting appropriate measures to keep nematode populations from reaching damaging and uncontrollable levels.
